AGHS Sydney Branch: 2022 AGM and presentation

16 August 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:20 pm AEST

August is the time for our Annual General Meeting, a time to find out about what we as a branch of the AGHS have been up to over the past 12 months – including our events, activities and finances. It is an opportunity to celebrate the branch, engage on the night with questions, suggest ideas and vote in new committee members.

We ask members to consider joining our executive committee to help in the support of the Society’s goals and activities. Please contact us if you would like to know more about what’s involved and the roles available. The committee is a lot of fun and we welcome new people.

After the AGM there will be a presentation by Dr James Broadbent, a Sydney-based historian and conservationist.  His talk is titled:  Fernhill – An Historic Cultural Landscape and/or a Recreational Greater Sydney Parkland?

James’ study has been the history of New South Wales’ colonial houses, their furnishings and gardens, and the society that built and lived in them. Through his work as a museum and exhibition curator, as a lecturer and author, he has promoted the significance of these houses and campaigned for their conservation.  We have invited James to speak about Fernhill Estate and the Mulgoa Valley,  a property he has consulted on for many years.

Venue: Annie Wyatt Room, National Trust Building, Upper Fort Street, Observatory Hill, (Millers Point).

Book: at Trybooking.

The program for the meeting will be:

6:00 pm – Nibbles and drinks
6:45 pm – Attendees asked to be seated
7:00pm – AGM
7:20pm – Presentation by Dr James Broadbent followed by Q & A.
8:20pm – End of event.
