SA Branch: The “Old Mole” Collection and the Australian Museum of Gardening project
8 April @ 11:00 am ACST
Branch members (and other Society members visiting Adelaide at the time) are invited to a talk by Susan McCormack, Carrick Hill Director, on the collection of gardening tools and related ephemera donated to Carrick Hill by Richard Bird in 2013, and on progress in establishing an Australian Museum of Gardening based on this donation.
The AGHS signed up as a partner organisation to this project in 2013 and continues to support and encourage the creation and development of a permanent Museum; it will be a focus in the forthcoming national conference in Mt Gambier with an exhibition from the collection at the conference venue and talks and discussion among the wider membership.
Following the Director’s talk, to be held in the hall of Carrick Hill house, there will be a visit to see the collection in its current housing in a shed a few minutes’ walk from the house.
Venue: Carrick Hill House Museum and Garden, Springfield.
Please note: Carrick Hill is not open to the general public on Tuesdays; members should assemble at the front of the house shortly before 11 am for access.
