Buda is situated in north central Victoria at Castlemaine, 118km from Melbourne. It began with the vision and tenacity of Ernest Leviny a Hungarian born jeweller . The original holding was purchased in July 1863 the Buda garden illustrates the typical conditions of the Central Victorian Goldfields. Generally poor soils and long spells of low rainfall have shaped the regional gardening traditions.
